Here we go!

Yes! even more inane rambling's from a forty something bloke who really would like to get quite good at this Road Racing lark. To those of you who know me in that 'lets meet in the pub for a drink kinda way', welcome back!; if you're a internet lurker hang in there occassionally I might just make you smile.

Its tempting at this point to announce my seasons goals; and then mention fitness levels, aerobic power, CTL graphs, vo2max neuromuscular power and all that kinda stuff. Er... its not that kinda blog; but, I have got a Kurt Kinetic trainer so I'll occassionally toss around a few numbers for the geek factor... So why the name Ade Merckx, one of my non cycling homies gave me the name and it kinda stuck. I know what you're thinking. Is there's a genetic link to a certain E. Merckx?...er perhaps, you'll just have wait and see.

10 things you probably never knew about me!

I eat more sweets than the average 12 year old (my son told me ), I once featured in a BBC documentary for young people about starting up you're own record label; I accidentally wrote a hit pop record in the late eighties for a very cool sexy chick; I carried around the philosopher Karl Popper's, The Growth Of Scientific knowledge in a ruck sack for six months, don't ask; and I reckon in my footballing prime my left foot was a good as Arsenals', Liam Brady;

Cycling's is now my main passion of course- so much so that when I started I'd often rewound the 2003/4 TDF DVD's about thirty times just to try and calculate LA's average cadence in one of the Individual TT's; I'm a typical taurean and insist or always try to get my own way; I'm often woken up at night by fears of Alien abduction; I don't know a damn thing about bike components - in the 2007 Tour of the Back Mountains it took 30 minutes for me to fix a puncture. And finally I think the coolest word in the English language is THRESHOLD

So here's the format. Everytime I ride competitively (RR's TT's or Sportivs) - number on the my back or bike frame- I'll try to give you my own 'emotionally detached' (lol's...yeah right!)retrospective on the event. The show should literally get going on the road in March. But I'ain't a fan of racing in the cold so we'll just have to see. However I will try to race at least three times a month. Crystal Palace, Surrey League RR's, Hillingdon, Dunton, Milton Keynes should all feature at some point. Thanks for reading and take care.
